2018 NWRA Driver of the Year

2018 NWRA Driver of the Year

On Friday March 9, 2018, the National Waste and Recycling Association announced its 2018 Drivers of the Year winners. The awards recognize the drivers and an operator who put safety as their top priority.

“Safety is a core value at NWRA and for our members. Our members and their employees are dedicated to keeping our communities clean and safe on a daily basis. Therefore, it is important that we recognize the drivers and operators who make safety a priority. I congratulate them on their achievement,” said NWRA President and CEO, Darrell Smith.
The Driver of the Year awards are for those drivers who operate their trucks in a safe and responsible manner, have outstanding performance records, and whose contributions have enhanced the overall safety and image of the solid waste industry.

The finalists were determined by a computerized scoring system. Independent judges selected the winners based on letters of recommendation and, for drivers, the difficulty of the route. During judging, operators were also judged on difficulty of their equipment to operate.

The All Waste Inc. 2018 National Waste and Recycling Association Driver of the Year Awardee:

Joseph Lallier, All Waste, Inc.

All Waste Inc has been participating in NWRA Driver of the Year competition since 2013 and has previously earned the title of NWRA Driver of the Year, in the medium size hauler category, with Andrzej Czekaj in 2014 and Derrick Belin in 2017. Aside from the very strict internal criteria that all drivers must achieve, drivers must earn All Waste Inc. safe driver of the year for four consecutive years prior to being nominated to NWRA Driver of the Year.

Joseph Lallier is a valued professional, team member and swing driver and is viewed first as an outstanding leader. Joseph’s abilities and contributions are an important key to the success of our entire operation. Even while taking on added responsibilities as a swing driver or passing on his knowledge and skills to a new hire through our driver training program, his focus is always being fully committed to safety.

During a conversation with Joseph, he stated that he secretly set a goal to win this award to show his daughter that “no matter what you do in life, as long as you work hard and give 100%, you will be successful”. With hard work and determination he never lost sight of this goal; to be on stage, representing his daughter, his family and his employer. Joseph concluded after receiving the news that he was selected, he realized his hard work had finally paid off.

All Waste Inc. will be sending Joseph Lallier to the 2018 Waste Expo in Las Vegas, NV where he will be recognized during the NWRA Awards Breakfast on Tuesday, April 24. We look forward to watching Joey receive his award and can only hope that he takes a moment to reflect upon his accomplishments and takes pride in knowing that he is an important member of our team.
