Welcome back to your weekly “Trash Talk Tuesday” article, this week we want to bring your attention to something that goes on in our facility every day and that is the separation of food waste products. Food waste is something that we sort for our large commercial customers who have a certain tonnage of food waste at their facility. After we properly sort this food waste we bring it to a company called Quantum Biopower. Quantum then takes this food waste and stores it at their facility and through anaerobic digestion makes methane gas, this gas is used to run a generator that makes electricity. The electricity that Quantum makes they give back to the town of Southington. If everyone does their part we can start making a change little by little.
